At Maskal Teff, our mission is to preserve the accessibility of teff to Ethiopian and Eritrean communities in the United States and to share the benefits of teff with people of all backgrounds. Our commitment to safety and quality is our #1 priority. We implement safety and quality best-practices across our entire supply chain beginning on the farm and extending throughout our cleaning, milling, and packaging processes.
We have worked directly with American farmers in the Western United States for nearly 40 years. We work closely with our growers to maintain Maskal Teff’s strict standards, as well as the standards set forth by the USDA, FDA, and third party food-safety organizations. Not only do we visit all our teff fields throughout the planting and harvest seasons, but we are proud to have close personal relationships with each of our growers.
PrimusGFS is a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized audit standard. It is designed to be used for primary production and manufacturing sectors at a global level and aims to ensure and improve food safety and compliance. Maskal Teff’s teff-only facility in Boise, Idaho has secured the PrimusGFS certification for nearly a decade straight. Our dedicated Quality Assurance and Food Safety teams are committed to ensuring our facility, equipment, and control processes uphold the highest standards in food safety and quality.
